Malvern Minerals has
half of a century of
timely and creative
product development.
Around 1935 whetstone miners
prospected central Arkansas for hard
novaculite, but found instead the less
cemented variety called tripoli, a white
microcrystalline silica powder.
In 1947 the Malvern Minerals
Company was born. An industrious group
of visionaries saw a future for tripoli, and
marketed it as Novacite?, named after
novaculite from the Latin root novacula,
meaning "razor hone." Since 1977 two
other deposits have been opened,
assuring an on-going supply for MMC
customers. Click for details>>
